Setting Spiritual Goals

When I read my Bible in the morning, I have six things with me.  The Bible, A notebook I can write in, my special pen that was a gift from my husband, and three highlighters; pink, green and yellow.

When I come across a promise in the word I highlight it in pink for promise. Green means go, so I highlight God’s commands with that. And then yellow is for those verses that speak to my heart that day.

This year, as I was praying over 2019 and asking for God’s direction, I felt the Lord’s nudge to focus on His promises this year. This is one of my spiritual goals for 2019.

Last year, I memorized scriptures about God’s love for me. And this year, I want to focus on His promises, those scriptures I have highlighted in pink. When things and situations come up, I want to be filled with an arsenal of God’s promises, instead of letting things get to me, or pull me down. Discouragement was a big thing for me last year, and I feel I need God’s promises front and center to help me keep going.

What About you?

Is there a place where you may need to set a spiritual goal? A place you would like to grow spiritually; something that’s been coming to your mind quite a bit but you’re not sure if you have the time or even how to implement it?

I invite you to set aside a few moments with God today and ask Him where you are spiritually and if there’s any place He would like you to grow. And then, ask Him How. He may not lay out the entire map for you at once, usually He gives you the next step.

What is God is speaking to your heart about 2019?

In his love,
