“Release this person into the Lord’s hands,” the leader said to me.

My husband and I had met with him and his wife about a situation that shouldn’t have happened. They were sympathetic towards what happened, but also, they wanted to make sure I was right with God.

When someone harms us in any way, it’s so easy to get focused on what happened, and ask the Lord “what’s going to happen to them? What’s going to happen to the person or people who harmed me? What are you going to do about it Lord?”

When I have asked that question many a time, the Lord’s answer has always been along the lines of, Trust me with them. You follow me.

Trusting Him with the people who have harmed you means releasing them into His hands, and by faith choosing to forgive them (Mark 11:25), leaving them for the Lord to deal with. When we let go of things and give them into His hands, he does take care of things. We may not always see everything He’s doing, but if you will continue to release these things into His hands you will walk free and He will be free to deal with those who’ve harmed you in the way He chooses.

Lord, I choose to forgive ________ for ___________. I release them into your hands Lord, and ask that you would show them your truth. I lift up to you all the feelings and evil thoughts I’ve had about this person, and I ask that you would take these from me. In Jesus name, Amen.
