girlbenchThat feeling of being unwanted. Ignored. Treated as less than.

Rejection.

Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines it as: The act of throwing away; the act of casting off or forsaking; refusal to accept or grant.

How many of you have felt thrown away?

Forsaken?

Unaccepted by those around you?

I have, I have felt all those things. Rejection has taken a very big place in my life. When you’ve been abused, abandoned, and felt thrown away and forsaken by those who were supposed to love you, rejection plants itself right in your heart.

Yet the truth can bring great comfort.

Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close

 Psalm 27:10 New Living Translation

This verse has been such a comfort, reminding me that my Father God accepts me as His own child. All those things I suffered at the hands of others, I can place into His hands and trust Him to restore my heart and soul.

But How do you do that? How do you place the rejection and heartache that comes with it into God’s hands?

That’s something I wondered at one time too.

Start with Prayer.

This is the prayer I learned to pray through rejection and I still use it when rejection rears its ugly head.

Father God, I thank you that you accept me as your own. I am your child, and you are happy to call me loved. I forgive those who have rejected me, wounded me and treated me as less than. In the name of Jesus, rejection, I break your power over my life. I renounce all agreements I’ve made with you, and I tell you to leave me now. I close the door on you, rejection, and I say, you are not invited anymore. In the name of Jesus, I break the power of the lies that rejection has told me, and I pray God’s healing over my mind and heart. Father God, thank you that you love me so very much, and that your plan for me is healing and restoration. Thank you that I am acceptable to you through the blood of Jesus Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.

Remember, healing is a journey with Jesus. Most of it will not happen overnight but be a series of small steps of growth along the path of healing. One day you will realize you don’t feel that ache in your heart anymore, you aren’t afraid of something anymore and you’ll realize you’ve grown. Don’t despise the day of small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10) but continue to take steps forward into your healing.

Kings Daughter, God does not reject you. You are valuable, beautiful and a great treasure to Him. He loves you more than you know.

In His love,

Carolyn
