“What’s on your sword?”

Our Cleansing Stream Discipleship leader shared how he prayed a scripture about a certain situation. He kept praying that same scripture every day.

Finally he saw someone close to him set free.

“What’s on your sword?” he asked again.

The word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), when we read it, it changes us, encourages us, comforts us, and helps us to keep going in hard times. But the word of the Lord is also a weapon (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

When I was going through a hard situation while in Bible College, I shared some of it with one of the staff. She prayed with me for a moment, and then said, “Ask the Lord to give you a scripture regarding this situation. Keep that scripture in your heart and mind.”

When we are going through hard things, we can put the word of God on our sword of prayer and keep it forefront in our thoughts. That word will keep us encouraged. It will help us keep going when things are tough. It will help us not to give in to discouragement or be tempted to give up.

What’s on your sword?

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you ~ Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
