Today, we’ll be talking about what to do while waiting on God.
Have you been waiting on God’s promises in a situation, and you find yourself struggling with doubt or fear? Well, you’re in the right place, because today I’m going to share 3 things you can do when you’re waiting on God’s promises to come to pass in your life and be sure to stay to the end because I’m going to give you an example of a prayer you yourself can pray when you’re waiting on God.
1. Seek encouragement from his Word
When you want to know what to do while waiting on God, seek encouragement from God’s Word.
When something jumps out at you in the Word, that is the Holy Spirit speaking to you from God’s Word.
Write that down.
Highlight it.
Do something to help you remember that that verse stuck out at you.
Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart about what you’ve just read, and sit quietly for a moment, inviting Him to speak to your heart.
2. Make time for prayer and worship, praying those Scriptures back to God.
A really good way to get direction when you want to know what to do when waiting on God, is through prayer.
Make some time for prayer and worship in your daily life.
If you don’t have the time to take for prayer, praise, and worship,
Pick something else you’re doing when you can spend that time.
You can pray and praise while you’re
Doing dishes,
Going for a walk
Showering and getting ready.
However you implement prayer and praise into your life, make time to listen to the Lord, seek His encouragement and His leading for your situation, and for Him to direct your steps.
Pray about the scriptures you have just read, pray them back To God, ask God to encourage you.
Divine Encouragement
I remember asking the Lord for divine encouragement when I was really struggling with something in my life. And He kept speaking to me about the Eagle, and how the Eagle flew above the storms, not letting the storms drag them down.
And one of the scriptures he used to encourage me was Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
During that time, I would be driving in my car and see eagles flying overhead. I would walk out of my house, and one day I saw two eagles flying over my house, wherever I went, I would see Eagles, as God was speaking to my heart about flying above the storms and not letting the storms take you down.
Repeat this on an ongoing basis
When you’re waiting on God, and you make time to seek encouragement from him in the Word, and ask Him to speak to your heart through prayer, you will find strength as you wait for Him to move in your life.
You’ll also be In a position of listening, so that He can direct your steps regarding your unique situation.
3. Encourage Yourself
When you don’t know what to do while waiting on God, and it seems like it’s taking a long time, doubt and fear can creep int.
When doubt and fear come, remind yourself of who God is and what His Word says, and remind yourself of any encouragement you’ve been given about this situation.
There are so many scriptures in the Word that help, but I’ll give you a couple to start with.
Numbers 23:19: God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (NKJV)
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me [a]void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV).
A prayer that you can pray when you’re waiting on God is:
Father God, I pray that as I seek you through your word and through prayer, that you would encourage me that scriptures would jump out at me while I’m reading, and that you would confirm those scriptures to me through your divine encouragement. I pray that as I wait for you, that you would strengthen me, protect my mind from the doubt and fear, that say you won’t come through. Help me to know that you are God my father, and you will never abandon me, and never forsake me. Help me to trust you. Thank you that you carry me through the storms of life, and that as I sit at your feet, you will strengthen encourage me and prepare for what is to o come. I thank you for the victory that can only come through Jesus, in Jesus’ mighty name, I pray amen.
If you know someone that’s struggling with doubt or fear while waiting on God, and you think this could help them, would you share it with them?
This episode was inspired by day 15 of Healing the Father Wound.
This post just verifies the conviction in my heart that Gid is there and taking the time to pray, listen, and verify by scripture to verify Gods loving guidance. Thank you for this insightful lesson.
Thanks Christine for your kind words. God Bless you, Carolyn
