bibleI remember when I had gotten some freedom, the first time I was to come face to face with someone from my past. This person was highly dysfunctional and abusive. I had limited my time with them, but this day, I would see them.

Fear wrapped itself around me, and I prayed to God. I did not want to fall back into dysfunctional patterns. I didn’t want to lose the precious freedom I had just gained.

When I spent some time with the Lord about it, this verse came to mind.

For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed. ~ Isaiah 50:7 NKJV

When you encounter situations that could drag you back to the past, keep your eyes on Jesus. Set your face like flint, unmoving from Jesus presence, His Word, and the promises He has made you. Rehearse those promises out loud. Sing praise to the Lord and thank Him that He will not let you go backwards, and Pray for His manifest presence in the situation.

Keep Jesus as the center of your attention when you walk through situations like this, and He will carry you through, for He is faithful.

Prayer

Father God, thank you that have brought me so far. Help me not to fall back into dysfunction, but to keep Jesus as the center of it all. Fill my mind with your promises for my future, and I praise you Father, for your good plans for me. Today, I choose to keep Jesus as the center. In Jesus name, Amen.

In His Love,

Carolyn
