One of my struggles was receiving the love of my heavenly Father. Other’s actions had taught me I wasn’t loved, and that lie affected my life in huge ways.
Taking someone’s advice, I found scriptures on God’s love, and one by one I started to memorize them.
I will never forget what happened one morning during that time. I woke up praying for someone I knew; and I had this urgent sense that I needed to tell her God cared about and loved her.
As I sat at my computer, typing out a message of God’s love for her, I felt Him…I could feel the tangible presence of my Heavenly Father enter the room, and I felt the love He has for me.
It was unexplainable, magnificent, strong, pure… there really are no words.
I will never forget that day… that feeling. For a few moments I felt the love of my heavenly Father.
I know that when I get to heaven, I will feel His presence and know His love like that all the time. But while on this earth, I need to continually remind myself that I am loved by my heavenly Father.
This world likes to tell us we are not loved, not worthy, and not valuable. So it’s important for each of us, as his daughters, to grow in the knowledge that we are loved by our Father in heaven.
Some things I have done to grow in the knowledge of God’s love are:
Memorize scriptures about God’s love:
look up scriptures about love in a concordance or on a website like Biblegateway.
Memorize the ones that speak to your heart.
Speak Gods’ word over yourself daily:
Those scriptures you’re memorizing? Speak them out over yourself as you’re driving, walking, doing the dishes or taking a shower.
Make it a habit to remind yourself of what God says about you.
Pray the Prayer of Paul for yourself and others:
Pray along with Paul in Ephesians 3:16-19
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (NIV).
In fact, this might just be a section to memorize!
Dear sister, I pray that you would flourish and grow as you continue on your journey of learning that you are truly and beautifully loved by your Father in Heaven!
