Day 12 He Thinks You’re Beautiful
He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:3 KJV
I love to walk through antique stores and museums. Each piece I look at has a story.
I find myself asking, who owned this a hundred years ago? What was life like for them?
Some pieces are shrouded in mystery, and you can only guess at who owned them. Others come with a short paragraph or two of who they belonged to. When I look at antiques, I see stories, stories of people long since gone, possibly with only this antique left to tell their story.
What did they struggle with? What were their joys and sorrows? What made their heart ache? What made them happy? Did they end up with the love of their life, or did they die lonely and bitter?
Some pieces are so beaten up and worn out that it seems no one would ever want them. They are passed up every day for other pieces that seem more beautiful. But there is a right person for everything.
Some come to the antique stores to find just those very pieces that no one else would want. They are able to look past the dents, the dirt and grime, to see the true value of the piece. They know that with just a little work, or sometimes a lot, they can restore this piece, making people who previously would have passed it up, stop and admire its beauty.
God has created in each one of us something beautiful and unique, a gift for the world around us. You may have been passed by or rejected by others. But God will never reject you when you come to Him. He sees the beauty in you and has a plan for your restoration. You are worth more than you will ever know. Invite the Lord in to do a work in your heart and in your life, you will not be disappointed.
Prayer
Lord, I invite you into my heart to begin the restoration process. Help me to know that you love me, to be secure in your love, and to understand how very valuable I am to you and to your kingdom. Thank you that you have plans for my life, and a plan for my restoration. I surrender my own plans to you, and agree with your plans for my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
