Today we find Jesus in the wilderness before His ministry started.
Read Mark 1:12-15
Write Mark 1:13 in your journal.
Before Jesus ever gave to people, the Spirit led him to the wilderness.
Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines wilderness as ” a tract of land or region uncultivated and uninhabited by human beings.”
At the end of verse 13 it says the angels ministered to Jesus.
We might not all have a wilderness experience in a literal sense, but we can get away by ourselves to spend time with the Lord in reflection and prayer.
I know personally, when I spend time with God, I receive encouragement, comfort, peace, and direction that I would have never received if I didn’t take that time alone.
Find A Solitary Place
I invite you to make a time to get away with God today or this week in solitary place, even if it is for only a few minutes.
During this solitary time, ask God to speak to your heart about the purposes and plans He has for you. Remember that He doesn’t always show you the whole picture, but He usually shows you the next step, and that too, can come over a period of time.
Here is a prayer if you would like one to pray:
Father God, I pray You would speak to my heart about Your plans and purposes for me. Show me I’m here for a reason, and that You still have plans for me. Help me to hear Your voice and no other, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Wait on the Lord
Wait quietly in His presence for a moment.
What comes to mind? What do you think about?
Write it down and pray over that, asking Him to confirm His word and show you what the next steps are.
Here is an example you can pray:
Father God, thank You for the things You’ve brought to my heart today. I lift them back up to You and ask that You would go before me and behind me, that You would make the way. I ask that You confirm your Word to me and show me the next steps to take. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Until Next time,
Carolyn
