Today’s Reading: Mark 1:35-39
Again, we see Jesus getting away in a _______________ place.
Throughout the book of Mark, let’s take note of the times Jesus spent alone with God.
In verse 38 what does Jesus say?
It seems that in his quiet prayer time, He received the direction He needed from the Father.
Trying to Figure Everything Out
Oh, Dear sister in Christ, I know that I myself have spent too much time trying to figure things out; how things are going to work out, or what I should do.
So many times, I have come to God in a frenzy, asking, “Lord, what do I do?”
But in His gentleness, God always reminds me that it’s not my place to figure it all out, but simply to spend time in His presence and follow Him.
A Reminder
So many times, I have had to remind myself of this verse.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 3:5 NIV
It reminds me that Jesus is the one with the blueprints for my life, and I don’t have to have it all figured out. When I am reminded of that, I feel the pressure lift.
It’s not my job to know how it’s all going to work out.
Lord, What Do I Do?
My job is to seek time alone with Him and follow His lead.
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,”
Isaiah 30:21 NKJV
A Prayer of Surrender
If you, like me, have felt the pressure to have it all figured out, I invite you to take time to get alone with God, and prayer the prayer of surrender I have had to pray so many times myself.
Father God, I surrender to you the need to figure everything out for myself. I choose to trust in You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. I thank You that You have the blueprints for my life, and that I simply must follow You. Help me to trust that Your plans for me are good, and to trust that You will lead me in the way that I should go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
