God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19 NIV)

The promises God has made to me will come to pass. He will not change his mind about them. He has not forgotten me. Truly, does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

I have been in a place of asking God when about a certain situation in my life. This Sunday at church  we worshiped to Never Once. While I was worshiping, it was as if God whispered to my heart, “Stop looking at how far you need to go, and look how far you’ve come.”

My heart was so touched as we sang. Truly, I have never once walked alone. My Father has always been with me. When I look back at all the things God has done in my life, I am overwhelmed with thankfulness.

I am reminded of the scripture that says David encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Sam 30:6). When he was facing a situation of great magnitude, I think David reminded himself of all the things God had already done. This also reminds me of the Israelites in the wilderness (Numbers 14). They looked at what they didn’t have, instead of what God had already given them.

What a sweet reminder to count my blessings and be thankful for all the things God has done, instead of only looking at what he hasn’t done yet.

I can trust my Father. He will never lie to me.

Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
