Every day as we get dressed, we can also dress ourselves in our spiritual armor, putting it on just as if we were putting on clothes. We can  pray as we go about our day, remaining in fellowship with the creator of the universe (1 John 2:28). Even if we have to go into the bathroom and shut the door to get some time alone with Him, we can.

What soldier goes about their day not having received orders from their commanding officer? That is what we are in this world, soldiers in the kingdom of God (2 Tim 2:4). Don’t be afraid, we have the greatest trainer there is, the Holy Spirit. But in order to receive that training we have to meet with and make time for our commanding officer, God.

If we go about our day with other things on our mind, making them more important than what our commanding officer would say, we could fall into trouble; trouble that might have been avoided if we had taken the time to meet with Him and receive His direction for that day.

You are a soldier in God’s army. Prepare for battle every day by making the time to meet with Him.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people (Ephesians 6:13-18 NIV).
