You can find a link to the passage here.

The first person we meet in Mark is John the Baptist.

Let’s take a closer look.

Mark 1:2 says that John was a _________________.

And that he was there to prepare the _____________.

Mark 1:3 says he was a voice crying in the ________________.

What does Mark 1:4 say that John did in the wilderness?

What does Mark 1:6 say John wore and ate?

What does this say to you about who John the Baptist was?

Read Luke 7:24-27

What were the people thinking they were going to see when they saw John the Baptist?

The people God uses are simply regular people who have decided to pursue the things of God and His purpose for them daily.

The Word talks about going from glory to glory.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV

Often this means living out your daily life and inviting Jesus to meet you right where you are.

Let’s look a little closer at John the Baptist’s beginnings.

In the first chapter of the book of Luke, an angel appears to John’s Father Zacharias and speaks of John’s birth.

Read Luke 1:15-17.

In your own words, write what the angel says about John the Baptist.

God knew John the Baptist before he was born. He had a special plan for this man of God.

Now, let’s look at what the Word of God says about you.

Write Psalm 139:16.

Write Ephesians 1:4

Write Jeremiah 29:11

In your own words, what do these verses say about you?

You may not be John the Baptist, yet God the Father created you, and He saw every day you were on this earth before one of them came to be. He chose you before the foundation of the world, and God the Father has a divine plan and purpose for your life.

At this season in your life, you may have a glimpse of what that might be, or you may have no idea at all.

Wherever you are in your journey of life, as you follow Jesus, He will lead you and guide you to the plans He has for you.

Let’s Journal

Through this passage and Bible study, what stands out to you the most?

Bring that to God in prayer. If you need an example, you can pray this prayer:

Father God, I lift up to you what stood out to me in this Bible study. I pray now that you would speak to my heart about this.

Now, wait quietly in God’s presence for a moment.

Then write what’s on your heart.

How can you apply this to your life?
