When I started Bible College, family members who had been hurt by the church wouldn’t even say its name. They called it, “That Other College.”
Other family members kept talking about those who followed God’s leading and failed. They doubted God had called me at all and voiced it regularly.
I could have let their discouragement stop me. But, every day, I chose to show up for my classes. Because I knew, deep in my heart, that God himself had told me to go. God’s plan was for me to go.
The Direction in Prayer
A few months earlier, I kept getting the words in prayer, go to Bible College. At the time, I had been accepted to another college and was already signed up for classes. My goal was to be a librarian. Yet, the words kept coming. Go to Bible College.
There came a day when I had to decide. Am I going to please those in my family who are against Christianity, or am I going to follow God’s plan? Am I willing to possibly lose relationship with those who would not be happy if I went?
Finally, I said to God, “If you really want me to go to Bible College, show me where to go.”
The Answer
That week, my husband and I were driving home and behind some buildings in a parking lot, the words flashed before me for just a second, Seattle Bible College.
I knew that I knew God’s plan was for me to go there, even if I didn’t know why.
Keep Your Eyes on His Direction
When God makes it clear to you the direction He wants you to take, keep those words from Him in front of you throughout your journey. Keep your eyes on that direction, and do not turn away from it. Because when God has called you, when He has promised you something, He will bring it to pass.
Don’t let the enemy try to steal God’s plan for you. Continue to follow Jesus, keeping your eyes on what He has said morning and night.
What God has promised, He will do, and He is faithful.
In His love,
Carolyn
