Today, we’ll discuss two thing we can do when we are feeling not good enough.
Coming from a past of trauma and abuse, my self-worth was in the toilet. I always felt like I was not good enough, always analyzing and criticizing my actions or things that I said. You see, I had been gaslit so much that I just felt like everything I did was wrong. I was constantly feeling not good enough.
I felt like I always had to do more to be loved and that it was never enough. But something that God has been teaching me is that He made the way for me to be His child, that He is happy to make me His own, that He delights in me.
And He has also made a way for you to be His.
The scripture for today is Ephesians 1:5
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure (NLT).
When You’re Feeling Not Good Enough, Remind Yourself of God’s Truth
God is not just tolerating you.
He delights in you.
You are a daughter of God, and He is happy to have you as His own.
You are enough simply because Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and washed you clean by His blood.
So, when those condemning thoughts come, when you’re feeling not good enough, remind yourself of God’s truth.
Settle the Matter in Your Mind
Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool (NIV).
Jesus Christ died on the cross for you. Your sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Let the matter be settled.
Remind yourself of the truth.
You can say something like,
I am enough because Jesus Christ died on the cross for me and washed my sins away. The matter is Settled.
When You’re Feeling Not Good Enough, Remind Yourself of Whose You Are
Another thing that you can do when those thoughts of not enough come is to remind yourself of Whose you are
First John 3:1 says,
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (NIV).
If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are a child of God. So, when those thoughts of not enough, come, remind yourself of Whose you are.
I am a daughter of God. I am a daughter of the King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords.
God Forgives and Cleanses
First John 1:9 says,
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (NIV).
So, when you sin, you confess it to God and you say, “Lord, forgive me.”
And He is faithful and just to forgive you your sins, and it says also, to purify you from all unrighteousness.
It’s a Daily Walk.
No one is perfect.
We are enough because Jesus Christ died for us and washed us by His blood. Our sins are as white as snow.
If we continually walk with Him, be in His word and let Him work in us, that is the journey with the Lord.
You are Enough
You don’t have to work hard enough to be good enough for God.
You don’t have to do enough to be good enough for God.
You don’t have to be enough to be good enough for God.
He loves you right now, just the way you are.
You are a delight to Him.
You are his dear precious daughter, and He loves you.
He loves you so much that He made a way for you to be His child through Jesus Christ.
You are enough.
Would you pray with me as we receive that love of God?
Father God, I pray for my dear sister in Christ and for myself. I pray that as we walk out our daily walk with You, that we would just be in your love, that we would remind ourselves that You love us. Every day we would remind ourselves and You would remind us by your Holy Spirit, that we are daughters of the King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords, and that we are loved by our Heavenly Father, that we are not condemned because the blood of Jesus has washed us from all sin. We are as white as snow by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Thank you, Father God, that as we confess our sins to You, that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to purify us from all unrighteousness. Help us Father, to stay in that place of walking with You daily, knowing that we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus, that You are happy to be our father, and that we are enough. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Wonderful teaching! I especially like the part about it being settled. The Lord really did settle it, now I just need to remember that. Thank you for praying for your readers!
Thanks Kerry!
