girlwindowOften, when you have suffered abuse, you feel the most alone when you are with people. It’s hard to come out of yourself. You’ve been trained to hide, to not allow yourself to be vulnerable before others.

When the church we went to started talking about getting together in groups, that is when I wanted to run! What if they saw me? What if they rejected me?

I felt so alone, so isolated.

But there was one who was with me every moment. He listened to my cries, He saw my tears, and He never rejected me.

Do you often feel alone? Isolated? Afraid to let anyone see you?

Jesus is right there with you at this very moment. If you will allow Him, He will lead you, comfort you and bring you to a place of healing.

The one place to start when you want healing in your life is at the feet of Jesus. But How do you make this happen?

Choose to Spend time:  Make an appointment with Jesus. The Bible talks about morning prayer, but it also talks about afternoon prayers and evening prayers. When is the best time for you?

When my daughter was little, I spent time with Jesus after I put her to bed at night. When my children went to school it was after I had dropped them off. Now that they are older I spend time with Jesus in the morning. What time works for you?

Ask the Lord to Make Himself Real To you: Be honest with God. If He doesn’t feel tangible to you, ask Him to manifest His love for you. Then, watch for the answers.

Declare that You Are His Child: So often we who have suffered abuse do not have a good example of a mother or father.

Ask the Lord to give you an example of a loving father.

And Declare out loud I am your daughter, you are my father.

When you have been broken by those who were supposed to love you, it’s hard to let yourself be vulnerable before others. Start with being vulnerable before your Heavenly Father. If you’re afraid, just tell Him you are. He is not angry with you for being broken. He is compassionate, loving, and ready to listen. He sincerely cares about what is going on in your heart. He will never reject you, His precious child, but will only love you into wholeness.

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10 NKJV

In His love,
