[00:00:00] You are listening to Abide in Jesus, the podcast for women who want to experience Christ’s healing touch in their lives. I am your host author, Carolyn Rice, and in this episode I’ll  read a sample from my book, Lord, heal my heart. The name of this devotion is The Image in the Mirror.

[00:00:21] And the scripture is Isaiah 61:10 from the king James version. I will greatly rejoice in the Lord. My soul shall be joyful in my God for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation. He has covered me with the robe of righteousness as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments and as a bride adorneth herself with her Jewel.

I will never forget that picture.

[00:00:49] I can still see it plain as day. In the spirit while I prayed, I saw a picture of a bride. She was so beautiful that there were no words to describe. She practically glowed with beauty. And that beautiful bride sat in front of a full length mirror, looking at herself. Only what she saw in the mirror was very different than what she was.

[00:01:15] She saw a woman dressed in tattered rags. She was dirty. Her hair was a mess and she looked more like a forgotten orphan than a beautiful bride. I was touched with a great sadness at this picture. Seeing that such a beautiful person saw themselves this way. And then the truth God revealed to me came. I was that woman.

[00:01:41] That is how I saw myself. I saw myself through the ugly words spoken over me by broken people. I saw myself through the trauma and abuse I had suffered. And the lie that there must be something wrong with me for those things to happen. The beauty God had created me to be was hidden by the lies I believed about myself.

[00:02:06] I knew that the way I saw myself saddened my heavenly Father and He wanted to take away those things that caused me to look at myself this way. He wanted to heal my sense of self-worth and help me to see myself as He saw me. God has created you too, as a beautiful bride, you glow with the beauty He placed in you.

[00:02:28] You are precious to Him, a highly valuable treasure. Take what the word of God says about you and speak it over yourself. As each lie of the enemy is broken by the word of God, you will begin to see glimpses of the beauty who you really are.

And I’d like to end with a scripture and a prayer for you today.

[00:02:52] And the scripture I wanted to read is from the World English Bible, Isaiah 61:3 to appoint those who mourn in  Zion to give to them a Garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for a spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh that He may be glorified.

[00:03:16] Father God, I pray for my sister in Christ right now. I pray Father that you would help her to see herself as you see her, that she would be able to see herself as beautiful, beloved and great price in your kingdom. That she would be able to take off the old garments, the garments of depression, the garments of despair, the garments of mourning, the garments of shame. Father, that you would take those old garments off of her.

[00:03:43] And you would put on her, the garment of praise, the garment of joy, the garment of, of just living before you with such happiness. Father, I pray that you would give her peace.  I pray that she would be able to take the lies off and walk in your truth and wear that truth and know that truth deep within her.

[00:04:05] . I pray that she would be able to receive who she really is in you and who you’ve made her to be. I pray that as she follows you, that you would lead her into the destiny that you’ve called her to in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
