1 john 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
I’ll never forget the hand on my shoulder, the one I couldn’t see in the natural.
Years ago, I had gone down to the front for prayer after church one Sunday. I wanted prayer about something that was deeply on my heart, I often felt alone in this situation. It was as if no one else wanted to see what I was going through and I was losing hope of this ever being made right.
As the woman touched my hand and prayed for me about this, I felt another hand on my shoulder. My first thought was that another person from the prayer team had come to agree with our prayer, but when I looked back, no one was there.
Yet I could still feel the hand on my shoulder.
To this day, I believe that was either Jesus’ hand, or He sent an angel to agree with our prayer over this heartbreaking situation.
It was His way of telling me I was not alone in this, even though I felt it so deeply.
How Does God Reveal Himself?
There are times in life when God reveals Himself to you in such a way that no one can ever talk you out of it. This is what He did for the disciples in the New testament. He revealed Himself to them as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords over and over again.
And they shared with others how the Lord had revealed Himself to them.
What Do You Do With Your Wondering?
If you struggle with wondering if God is even real, or if He really cares about your situation, or if He loves you at all, ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
The Scriptures are the first place to go, because everything must line up with the Word of God. But you can also pray that the Lord would make Himself real to you, that He would reveal himself to you, that He would reveal His great love for you, and show you that He cares.
Our Heavenly Father is listening to our prayers, He is faithful, and when asked, He will reveal Himself to you.
Prayer
Father God, where I have been struggling with who you are, whether or not you’re even real, or if I am loved by you, I pray now that you would reveal yourself to me and show me the truth of your love. Where I have been struggling with situations that have broken my heart, and I’ve wondered if you care, I pray that you would reveal your heart for me and show me yourself Lord. And when you do, help me not to dismiss it, but to know that it’s you. Help me Lord, to experience you. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
