We walked into the new church wounded and hurting. We were ready to just hide for a while, until we could heal. At this point, I was so wounded by the church I didn’t even want to go a lot of the time. But I knew that’s not what God wanted for us. If we let what happened make us fall down and quit, then the devil had won.

Led to a New Place

One Sunday morning, I woke up with the new church on my mind, and I knew we were supposed to go. After the service, I met a woman who prayed for me and I felt an immediate connection with her. She and her husband were starting a home group and asked if we would come.

It turns out that they were the people who walked us through that hurt and helped us to get back up. God had a plan all along.

I won’t go into all that happened that left us wounded by the church, it’s really not even worth rehashing anymore. That doesn’t mean what happened didn’t hurt. It did, terribly. That doesn’t mean we can just move on without any wounds, we had to deal with those and forgive.

A Healing Word

One morning, not long after we started attending the new church, the pastor got up during worship and said these words:

“I am restoring to you all that was lost! Your turn is not over! I am moving you to a new place, a better place!”

When he spoke those words, it was like water droplets sinking right into my spirit. I knew they were for me.

When you’ve been hurt, especially by those in the church, ask God to lead you to where He wants you to be. Ask Him to help you heal and put people in your life who will help you to get back up.

Never Quit

The things that happened to us could have caused me to sit down and sit out. But then, who would have won?

God will restore to you all that was lost. He will move you to a new place, a better place. Don’t let the enemy talk you into quitting. For, if you quit, it’s the enemy who’s won.

Prayer

Father God, I bring to you all the hurt in my heart that came from your own people, and I place it at your feet. I ask for your healing Lord. Help me to move forward with you and not let this cause me to quit or miss anything you have for me. I pray for and receive your restoration. In Jesus name, amen.

In His love,

Carolyn
