That day, the pastor prayed over each one of us in our Bible college class.

One of the students recorded the class, and blessed others with copies of the prayers prayed over them. Mine gave me comfort for years. It reminded me in the midst of brokenness and trials that God had a plan for me.

One of the things prayed over me was that God was doing a golden needlework in my heart. He was putting together things and preparing them for me.

That word, a golden needlework, always remained with me.

Years, later, I learned about the Japanese art of Kintsugi and it reminded me of what my teacher had prayed.

In the art of Kintsugi when a piece of pottery is broken, instead of picking up the pieces and throwing them away, a method of repair is used that emphasizes the break with gold. The Japanese use gold dusted epoxy to put the pottery back together. When the work is finished that pottery, which was once broken is now a masterpiece, more beautiful than it ever was before.

When you are struggling with brokenness, you can feel as though people have thrown you away, as if you have nothing to give, and it can seem like everyone else has a better life than you.

But God sees the beauty that can come out of your brokenness. Instead of throwing your broken pieces away, He wants to work His golden beauty into your life, much like the art of Kintsugi. Can you just picture Him putting the pieces of your heart back together with the golden stitches of His love? With each stitch, His great love for you shines through, making you even more beautiful, a masterpiece filled with the testimony of His love, healing, compassion and strength.

Ask for His Restoration

If you would like God to do a golden needlework in your heart, all you must do is ask.

Father God, I surrender all my brokenness to you, every single piece. I hold nothing back and invite you in to do your healing work. I ask that you take my broken pieces and make me into your shining masterpiece. I entrust myself to you and receive your plan for restoration into my life. Show me Lord, how valuable I truly am to you, and that you will never throw me away. In Jesus name, amen.

 Keep seeking Him

Every day thank the Lord that He is working His golden needlework in your heart and praise Him for what He’s doing.

Stay in His presence through worship and prayer.

Scripture says that God inhabits the praises of His people.

But you are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Israel ~ Psalm 22:3 KJV

In His presence you will find comfort, direction, hope and rest. (Exodus 33:14, Psalm 23:4).

Remember, when you feel like giving up, that is when you need God the most. Jesus taught the disciples to always pray and to never give up.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up ~ Luke 18:1 NIV

Decide That Giving Up is Not an Option

Our God is faithful. What He has begun in you, He will bring to completion.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus ~ Philippians 1:6 NIV

When you have invited God in and declared that you receive His plan for your restoration, you have opened a door for the Holy Spirit to come into your life and work great things in you.

He will do a golden needlework in your heart.

In His love,

Carolyn
