Day 41
Rest in the Battle
But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the LORD’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you!”
2 Chronicles 20:17 NLT
My stomach was tight. My jaw clenched.
A situation our family was dealing with had gone on far too long. It looked like things were getting better, but had taken a turn for the worse. Our hearts were broken, and we were dreadfully afraid for someone we loved.
In the midst of all this My husband and I were scheduled to serve at a church retreat. I was ready to cancel; I didn’t want to serve anyone else. And I was also a little bit mad at God. How could He let this happen when we served Him so faithfully?
My husband took some time to get away by himself, and the Lord ministered to his heart.
He called me and said, “We’re supposed to go to this retreat. We’re supposed to go because of what we’re going through.”
I didn’t understand it, but I knew in my heart he was right.
With battered hearts and weariness in our soul, we set out to the retreat, telling God we didn’t have anything to give, and He was going to have to do it all.
While we were in corporate prayer before the retreat even started, I heard the Lord speak to my heart; Carolyn, I will fight your battles for you. When you try and fight your own battles, I can’t fight them.
I realized I needed to take my hands off, and just trust Him.
When you feel the battle is fierce, and you’re tired and worn out, could it be possible you are trying to fight the battle yourself?
Decide now that you are going to rest in the Lord. Take your hands off the situation and declare the battle is His. Tell Him you refuse to fight it yourself anymore.
Declare this every single day until you see the victory.
Prayer
Father God I release this battle to you. It is your battle and not mine, and I refuse to fight it on my own. I give it into your hands, and I choose to trust that you will fight the battle for me, while I rest in you. Thank you Father that this battle shall not take me down, but I shall walk in victory. In Jesus name, Amen.
