Day 68

Planting Words

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

 Proverbs 16:24 NKJV

Ever since we were children, we’ve had words spoken over us. Some were words of encouragement, to build up and empower. Other words were not so nice, words of accusation, rejection, and hatred.

And as each word was spoken, a seed was planted in our hearts. If someone said we could do anything we put our mind to, we believed we could. And if someone said we would never amount to anything, or called us names, sadly, those words were planted in our hearts too.

I have had to do a lot of digging up and replanting in my life. Weeds of words spoken over me years ago had almost taken over the garden of my heart. But the Lord is a master gardener. He knows how to take those ugly words out, and He has given us just the seed to do it with.

When you plant what your Heavenly Father says about you in your heart, the seed of that word immediately goes to work. And if you keep planting it and watering that seed by reviewing it regularly, you will eventually see truth begin to grow and bear fruit in your life. For what you believe about yourself affects the way you view the world around you, how you react, and how you go about your daily life.

Plant the seed of God’s word in your heart today.

Prayer

Lord I ask your forgiveness for every negative word I have spoken about myself. And I forgive those who have spoken ungodly words over me, words that did not agree with what you have said. Show me who I am in you, Lord, and help me to receive your words for myself. I give you permission to begin weeding the garden of my heart. In Jesus name, Amen
