I really wanted that freezer.

It was a great deal. It just had a tiny dent in the side, and so it was going for a great price. We’d wanted a freezer for a long time, and here was one, right at our feet!

I was sure it was a gift from God.ID-100161472

But I had a niggling feeling, Don’t buy it.

I wanted that freezer so bad, I ignored that feeling and convinced my husband to buy that freezer for me anyway.

At first I was so happy with it.

But within a week, we were made aware of an electrical short in our garage where it was plugged in. I think of that, and thank the Lord for His mercy. I think of what could have happened with that freezer plugged in to an outlet that wasn’t properly working.

And I repented.

I learned my lesson.

The Lord wants the best for me. And if He isn’t giving me something I want right now, there is a reason for it. I choose to trust Him and move on.

Just the other day, we saw a great deal on an oven we’ve been looking for. The salesman said it was a display model going for half price.

“What a great deal!” I said to my husband.

We looked at it, drooled over it, and then we stopped to pray.

And the Lord said, Not now.

We walked away.

I don’t know the reason why we didn’t feel peace about buying that oven, but I know I need to listen to the Lord.

James 1:5 says, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him (NKJV).

Whenever I have a decision to make, and I am tempted to be ruled by my emotions, I stop for a moment, and ask the Lord what He would have me do.

And then I wait for an answer.

Sometimes it comes quickly, other times it takes a while.

Sometimes it comes as that still small voice in my spirit. Sometimes I have peace about moving forward, or a lack of it. And sometimes, I have that feeling deep in my gut that says, don’t do it.

So if you are stuck and in need of wisdom, stop for a moment and ask the Lord, “what would you have me do?”

Then wait for His answer.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I ask for your wisdom in the decisions I have to make today. I ask that you would show me which way I should go. In the name of Jesus, I bind all spirits of confusion and break your assignments over me right now.  In Jesus name. Amen.
