Today I’ll share 7 Bible verses that helped me with anxiety.
Do you struggle with that feeling of dread? The What if question comes into your mind regularly… imagining the worst that could happen… you find yourself anxious and afraid.
People tell you to trust God, just worry about today, but your mind automatically goes to the worse case scenario, and you can’t seem to stop it.
Today, I want to share with you that there is hope for those who struggle with anxiety. I’ll share what God’s word says about it, things we can do, offer encouragement and a prayer for you.
My Story
I used to lay in my bed at night, not sleeping, my mind whirling with thoughts of what could happen. Because of my thoughts I was rigid, tense, and not resting at all. Many a night I lay awake for hours. The trauma I’d experienced left a deep mark on my soul, and I find myself broken, anxious, fearful, and wondering if there was really any hope for me at all.
The Lord has brought me on a journey of healing, and I’d like to share with you 7 Bible verses that helped me when anxiety has whirled it’s ugly head in my life. All verses are from the ESV
The 7 Bible Verses that Helped Me with Anxiety
John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
No matter what happens to you, nothing can ever snatch you of Jesus’ hand.
When you are anxious, imagine yourself in that big hand. The hand that holds you has the name above every name, who holds all authority in heaven and earth, and dear sister, you are in HIS hand. No one can take you out of it.
John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
In Jesus, we have peace. Even if our world is falling apart, we can still walk in peace, because we are in Jesus’ hands, the one who has overcome the world.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Ask
We may not always understand why things have happened the way they have, but we do know, that the Lord is the one who holds us and our future in His hands.
In all our ways acknowledge Him.
Ask Him to lead you and guide you.
Ask Him to help you overcome anxiety.
And He will direct your steps.
That is a promise from God dear sister, If you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your steps.
There have been so many examples in my life where I have prayed and acknowledge God, asking Him to lead me, and I run into the right person at the exact right time.
Philippians 4:6-7 in the NKJV say, Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving. Let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which sur, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
What to Do When Anxiety Hits
This verse is telling you what to do when anxiety hits.
I told you that I used to lay in my bed at night, my thoughts fixed on what bad things could happen.
But this verse is telling us what to do.
Pray
Pray.
Give your anxious thoughts to the Lord.
Thank Him for what he’s already done. Remember something that the Lord has done for you and thank Him for that.
Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
When you get your mind on the Lord, instead of on fear and anxiety, peace which passes all understanding will be your eventual destination.
Guard Your Heart
Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all vigilance,
for from it flow the springs of life.
When you’ve had a problem with anxiety, it’s important to guard your heart,
Put a guard over what conversations you have, what you let in to your mind, in your ears, and in your eyes. , put a guard over what goes into your heart, so that fear is not allowed in. When I had a really, um, hard time with anxiety and fear, I didn’t watch the news because I knew that that would make fear come into my life.
It’s a Journey
Noone get’s it perfect.
We are all on a journey, growing in Christ.
But if we take just one small step in the right direction, living according to the Words of God, we can trust that the Lord will lead us and guide us, direct our steps, guide us to the right people, and help us to heal.
The Lord will not leave you here.
John 14:18 says, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
You are not on this journey alone, Jesus is with you. He will bring you to a place of healing.
For me, it did not happen overngith, but as a journey with the Lord, and one day, I realized I wasn’t as afraid or anxious as I once was.
Can I pray for you today?
Father God, where my sister in Christ has struggled with anxiety, I pray that you would comfort her, that she would come to a place where she knows she’s never ever alone. Help her to know that whatever she faces in this life, that you are with her, and will never leave her or forsake her. Help her to cast her cares on you, to give you her anxiety and to keep her mind set on you. Father God, bring my sister in Chist to a place of peace. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.

Dear Carolyn,
Thank you so much for sharing these words that God has placed on your heart to share regarding anxiety.
This message has encouraged my heart and strengthened my call to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus as I am walking through a time of uncertainty regarding my alimony from my exhusband.
I have needed this provision for the last ten years since my divorce and now my ex has stated that he plans on going back to court to stop it.
I have not remarried and have a job..but again..need this provision to be able to remain in my home…which I know that Lord provided for me 9 years ago. He has been so gracious to me!!! I am in awe of His goodness and love towards me…yet I struggle with anxiety at times and I feel ashamed when I do.
With all this said, I know that God has and will continue to provide for me. He has been my loving father and husband!
I will use these verses to remind me that He has a plan for me and He is providing and healing my broken heart. Praise the Lord God Almighty!!
God bless you as you obey God in your ministry,
