By the end of this blog post, you will have 10 Bible verses to help when you’re feeling unworthy. And you’ll know what to do with them. So that you can take back your self worth.

Number One

The first scripture is Romans 3: 23-24

For all, have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (NIV)

Just as if I’d Never Sinned

A teacher in Bible college described what justified means by saying it was just as if I’d never sinned.

We’ve all made mistakes but are justified and treated as though we’ve never sinned, freely by His grace. Not by anything we have done. By His grace. You have been given a gif of being seen as if you’ve never sinned by Jesus himself.

And before we move on, I want to speak to anyone who’s having the thoughts that this is for other people and not for them. It’s for you. It is for you. Jesus’ blood was shed for you. He made you worthy to come before Him because if his blood shed for you.

Number Two

2. The second verse for when you’re feeling unworthy is 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (NKJV).

When we come to Jesus with our mistakes, our failures or feeling unworthy, He is faithful to forgive us. But not only just to forgive, but to cleanse us. He cleanses us and helps us not to live in that dark place anymore.

Number Three

The third verse is Isaiah 1:18 Come now let us settle the matter, says the Lord. Though your sins are like Scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red is Crimson, they shall be like wool (NIV).

You are made white as snow, because of Jesus’ blood shed on the cross. You are clean. You are not dirty. You are not shameful. You are washed by the blood of the lamb and can come boldly before him.

Because of Jesus’ gift to you.

Number Four

The fourth verse for when you’re feeling unworthy is Zechariah 3:4

This is in the Old Testament, but the Old Testament is always pointing to Jesus. This verse is a picture of what Jesus was going to do for us. It says,

Then he answered and spoke to those who stood before him saying, take away the filthy garments from him. And to him, he said, see, I have removed your iniquity from you. And I will clothe you with rich robes (NKJV).

Number Five

1 Peter 2:9 And it says, But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (NKJV).

He called you out of darkness, out of feeling shameful, dirty and condemned. Out of feeling inferior, and He has called you into His marvelous light, Into His freedom and His joy.

Number Six

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (NKJV).

You are the Lord’s workmanship, you belong to him. You don’t have to be enough or do enough or clean yourself up before you come to Him. You are His workmanship. And as you allow Him to work in your life, He will do that work in you.

Number seven

is Psalm 139:17-18 And it says,

How precious are your thoughts about me,O God.
    They cannot be numbered!
I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me! (NLT)

I would encourage you to read the whole of Psalm 139 for yourself, because it’s such a beautiful and encouraging Psalm. But this passage that we’re looking at is talking about how much God thinks about you.

Number Eight

is Isaiah 49:16 And it says,

see, I have inscribed. You. On the palms of my hands, your walls are continually before me (NKJV).

Again, You are on God’s mind. You’re on His heart. He loves you so much, He cannot keep his eyes off of you.

Number nine

is Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future (WEB).

When you make a mistake, the Lord wants to help you do better. He provided forgiveness for you through Jesus. He does not think evil of you. But peace. And He wants to help you.

And Number Ten

Luke 12:7 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future (WEB).

You are so valuable, precious a treasure to God. He knows everything about you, even the hairs of your head and the number of them.

You are so precious. To God.

What to Do with These Scriptures

There are so many more verses I can share with you about how valuable you are, but for now, I’m going to show you what to do with these verses that we’ve talked about when you’re feeling unworthy, so that you can wield them as a weapon against the enemy when he comes at you with thoughts of unworthiness or not being enough.

I would memorize the scriptures one at a time.

Look at the scriptures often and review them.

When thoughts of unworthiness come, declare the Scripture out loud, speak to that thought, cast it down with the word of God (See 2 Corinthians 10:5-7).

Can I Pray for You Today?

Father, I pray for my dear sister in Christ, where she is feeling unworthy, I pray that You would help her to be built up by Your word. That you would take her on a healing journey, And that she would believe what You say about her, over and above what the enemy or what other people say. In Jesus’ mighty name. I pray. Amen.

This episode was inspired. By day 14 of my Bible study Healing the Father Wound
